See The Match Referee For The FA Cup Final Between Man United & Chelsea
The Football Association has announced that Michael Oliver will referee this season’s FA Cup final.
The 33-year-old will take charge of the match at Wembley between Manchester united and Chelsea on Saturday, May 19.
He will be assisted by Lee Betts and Ian Hussin, with Lee Mason as the fourth official. The video assistant referee (VAR) will be Neil Swarbrick – the first in FA Cup Final history.
Oliver became the centre of attention earlier this month, when he awarded a last-minute penalty to Real Madrid during their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Juventus at the Santiago Bernabeu.
With the tie poised at 3-3 on aggregate, Oliver pointed to the spot and was heavily criticised by Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, who was sent off in the aftermath of the decision.
Buffon told reporters after the match that Oliver had “a garbage bin for a heart”.
