Temptation episode 35

EPISODE THIRTY-FIVE
Ben immediately frozed on hearing that and the different types of prying eyeballs that stared at him.
He was too stunned and gobsmacked to move an inch.
The whole place was eerily quiet worse than a grave yard. As no one talked nor made a disturbing noise.
Nancy also watched from where she sat in the car, her brain couldn’t provide her the appropiate answer to the question in her mind.
She only watched in silence but couldn’t decipher what was happening as everyone stood still like a statue.
They suddenly parted a narrow way for him as if he were a king.
Ben was standing, still not moving, he watched them parted way for him but he couldn’t attest to why they parted ways for him and what they wanted him to see.
He never knew when his legs carried him and he started walking through the way they left for him.
His legs suddenly came to an halt. He would have asked his legs why it had stopped but his mouth was too weighty to talk.
His eyes popped out, when his brain processed the message to him.
Just few meters from where he stood, there lay an over aged woman lying lifelessly on the floor, the victim was drenched with blood that one couldn’t see the owner of the face properly except you stare at the face.
Ben gasped out and his breathing became short shallow gasps as his chest heaved up and down heavily.
He couldn’t behold the sight, and
moreover, he had never seen such a horrible sight all his life.
It was worse as he saw that the body was excavated into two parts.
It was as if a sharp edged sword was used to cut her body into two parts, demarcating it from her waist region.
Ben was still oblivious of who it was and why he was scared for his dear life as shivers raced up and down his spine.
He wasn’t looking at the horrible dead body but his eyes were roaming over the crowds looking at the gloomy faces that stared back at him as though, he was waiting for explanation.
No one dared talk but remained mute as the silence evaded the once noisey street.
He glanced back at the body and realization hit him.
It was only a mumbled scream, he could manage.
It was his mother lying lifeless right before him.

Nancy couldn’t withstand it anymore as she heard a mumbled scream, which she was sure came from ben.
She dropped down and ran like she jogged to where ben was standing concealing his face with his palm sobbing.
Nancy also stopped in her tracks, just as ben had done earlier.
She scrutinized the dead body laying on the floor
the sight was terrifying.
She suddenly felt dampness on her skin and beads of sweat immediately formed on her forehead, trembling fereociously.
It dawned on her that it was her mother in-law.
She also gasped out and broke down in tears.
Their face immediately look pale and sullen as they were both distressed and emotionally destabilized.
Nancy who was supposed to be happy over the incident was greatly depressed and pained over her death. She never wished that for her but fate always had it way.
Some people among the crowd, who knew ben’s mother and the good things she had done, sympathized with them.
Everyone was moody and felt sorry for them as they never expected that.
Ben shed tears of a son to his mother, not for the wrong she did to him but for the loss of life.
She was indeed a woman of virtue, who had helped the needy and she’d made a great impact in people’s lives.
She acted inhumanely due to the raging fire that was burning in her.
The pain of not havimg grandchildren before death was what proned her to do unimaginable things she did.
It was her worst fears.
Ben cried uncontrollably, people never ceased in sympathizing with him, they talked manly to him, to take heart.
He eventually did as he pulled himself together as a man he was and cleaned off his tears with the handkerchief, he took out from his pocket.
But tears still hid behind his eyes and could drop any moment.
He motioned for someone to call the ambulance which they immediately did and minutes later.
Sirens of the ambulance was heard as it blared up in the air loudly.
It pulled over beside them and the remains of the corpse was bundled into the vehicle and it zoomed away leaving drops of blood on the floor.
Something suddenly struck his brain.
He remembered seeing a lady with his deceased mother before she was involved in a ghastly motor accident.
The big question is,
where is she?
